Gold - Tirunesh DIBABA, ETH
It was very good, but my stomach was bothering me. At one point, I almost had to quit, but because it was a matter of representing my country, I kept trying. If it had been another competition of my own, I would have quit.
I feel great joy that I won, and I know God helped me.
I came here in great shape.
I have been planning to defend my 5000m title, and as long as my stomach is alright, I will, but I want to get that checked. If I'm not feeling better, I might not run.
Silver - Elvan ABEYLEGESSE, TUR
The competition was very good, but it's very hot. For about the last two years, I've had a leg injury. I almost dropped out of the European Championships last year because of the injury.
It was a tough competition here. I raced against my Ethiopian friends.
I'm happy with my silver.
Bronze - Kara GOUCHER, USA
I am so proud and so excited! I guess, I blew up everyone today! My husband will not at all be jealous, he is so happy for me and supported me when I was injured for a long time. My medal and the flag are for both of us. The race was very rough, not only because of the weather, but also because of the pushing. In the end, I said to myself that I should not hide myself behind because of the pushing. I only knew that I could get a medal on the last 200 metres. I told myself " This is the biggest moment in my life, I really have to speed it up now - or never."
