First - Carolina KLÜFT, SWE
I can't explain, I'm so happy. There's no end of happiness. I'm just thrilled with victory. I've been working so hard these last two days and Lyudmila pushed me all the time. But I just like to compete and push myself. To achieve a PB was my biggest motivation and the European record is a great bonus. Now I'm just gonna be happy and relax at least for a week.
Second - Lyudmila BLONSKA, UKR
More than I expected, extremely satisfied. I was waiting for this success. It goes to my husband, coach and mainly my two kids back home, son Seryozha is 3 years old and daughter Irina 6 years. The best events were my two pb's in high jump and long jump. I struggled little bit in the 800 m, it was very tough at the end in this hot weather. And my worst event is javelin, we had here the types of javelin I m not used to train. It was my already 4th heptathlon of the year, but it was not too much. I planned it that way. I need to work for future for 200 m, shot, javelin and 800 m. After I improve in these events also a 7000 will be possible. In Beijing we can expect similar conditions, maybe we would need a more larger time table to get more time between the events in such weather. But as everywhere the public supported us in great way.
Third - Kelly SOTHERTON, GBRI had fantastic five events. I am grateful that a lot of people believed in me. Then came the javelin, it was so disappointing, but I kept it together and did not cry this time. The javelin was driving me mad. I am just proud to achieve a medal despite a poor javelin throw. I proved my word today and would like to keep the momentum going until next year for the Olympics. I wish that my season's best and my medal will be a trend for the British athletes.
