Gold - Tatyana LEBEDEVA, RUS
Today's competition was difficult because the others were well prepared and there were six jumpers with a PB over seven metres. There was a lot of pressure on me. I wanted to win for the spectators here in the stadium, for my family and my friends. What made it even more difficult was the changing wind and the heat. I would like to thank the spectators and God for my first world title in long jump. Tomorrow, I have triple jump qualification. And triple jump is more important for me. Long jump was kind of a warm-up for triple jump. Now I am a little bit tired.
Silver - Lyudmila KOLCHANOVA, RUS
I must be satisfied with silver, it means more for me than the European title. On the other hand I know I could jump more. During the qualification I felt lot better. Today evening I had small problems with my run-up and was also somehow tired and heavy. Fortunately my strong will in last round helped me to get the silver. I'm coming from city of Ostroma which is north of Moscow. I was injured from May until June, could slightly train but was not able to compete. I do not think I will have some competitions now and possibly will start soon with Olympic preparation.
Bronze - Tatyana KOTOVA, RUSI didn't expect to finish better than 5th or 6th. Achilles problems have been disturbing my preparation since last year and I don't feel comfortable with my run-up and take-off phase. So the the 6th attempt came by magic!
