Gold - Bernard LAGAT, USA
I feel very special. I followed the advice of my coach which was: just follow the pace, you have everything, you are fast. So, I did not go crazy at the beginning and accelerated at the end. The pace was not that slow. But I still paid attention that I did not get burned. I executed my kick extremely well and that was the key to winning. Today was a perfect day. I have waited so long for that medal. I am going to inspire a lot of people in America and Kenya. My medal is for the United States and everyone in America. I feel fresh enough to run tomorrow evening the heats of the 5000 m.
Silver - Rashid RAMZI, BRN
I'm very disappointed. The shape was there but I failed tactically. I didn't make my moves at the right time, neither with 400m to go when Webb and Kiprop blocked the way in front nor in the last homestraight.
Bronze - Shedrack Kibet KORIR, KEN
The race was very good, and I ran very well. When we started I didn't expect anything, but God can make something happen. When my friend from Kenya came in front with 400 metres to go and he started to run very well, I followed him. This is my first time doing the world championships and I feel very good. I now feel I can try for the next Olympics. Maybe I can win gold. I'm going back home now and after two weeks, I am racing the 1500 in Brussels.4th place - Asbel KIPROP, KEN
I wasn't ready for the World Championships. I went to the African Games and I wound up winning, so I just came. So it's a good build-up for the Olympic Games. I'm just happy being number four for the first time. It's my first appearance at a global championships as a senior.
