Flash Interviews: Women's Discus Throw Final

Gold - Franka DIETZSCH, GER

This is crazy! This is my third world title - I had some tears of joy in my eyes after the competition. It is very surprising for me as I am the second oldest in the field and today I beat all the young girls. Some weeks ago I had problems with my achilles and thought about not going to Osaka at all, but my coach advised me to go. I am so glad he did. He is the best coach in the world! I guess, I shocked the others with my first throw which was very far. After the third throw my Achilles started to hurt a little bit again. Of course, I want to go to Bejing next year - I have to see if I am still healthy enough. And for Berlin in 2009, I do not know yet, but I think I will try to.

Silver - Darya PISHCHALNIKOVA, RUS

Of course I am satisfied. Who would not be with personal best and world silver. Whether I wanted more, yes I always want and was trying until the last throw. I have all my family here, they supported me well, father, mother, brothers. We are a throwing family. The celebration will be at home. You are saying I am young, that is true, but also very important is the health. If I am healthy enough, I can compete at many championships in future.

Bronze - Yarelis BARRIOS, CUB

I wasn't surprised by my result. Actually, I threw 66.65m earlier this year in Jamaica, but the performance couldn't be ratified as the competition didn't meet all the IAAF standards. I'm sure I still have a big room of improvement and hope get better placings in the future.
