Guillermo MARTINEZ CUB
I did this salto [back flip] after my qualification throw because I felt so relieved and relaxed and full of joy! This is great, easy qualification. For the final, one will have to throw more than 86 metres for a medal and I will be in that fight. The climate here in Osaka is ideal for me. I feel good enough here.

The track is faster than what I'm used to. On my first attempt, I stepped through, so I had to move back my mark on the second. My aim was to qualify, I did it, so I am happy. It's nice to compete agains the likes of Greer and Thorkildsen. It pushes you to throw better. They are my heroes. I've been following them since school.
At the moment, I just try to be consistent over 80m. That's my goal for the year.

I had some problems with my leg, so 87m is good for me. Now 90m will be needed to make the top 4. I can't say what will happen in the final. Let's wait and see.

My throws were pretty bad today. My javelin was flying too high. I did not get it to the right position. Conditions were ok, rain did not bother me at all. I need to think for the finals a lot about my technique to get lower throws. Hopefully I can do it and fight for medals. That is my goal.
